Mr. A. Kumar, FRCS ORTH, M.SC ORTH ENG Consultant Lower Limb Orthopaedic Reconstruction & Trauma Surgeon
Since moving to Cambridgeshire in 2001, Mr. Kumar has been prolific in lower limb surgery, performing more than 5000 operations in this field, including hip, knee, ankle, rearfoot, midfoot and forefoot surgeries, as well as big toe joint replacements. Of the 9 prospective research studies currently being undertaken by the team, 6 are in the area of the foot and ankle.
Post-graduate qualifications include:
1 year fellowship in hip surgery
2 year fellowship in knee replacement surgery
2 year MSc qualification in Orthopaedic Engineering in 1999
He has also published 11 research papers concerning the lower limb.
Mr. Kumar’s role in the team is as a highly specialised lower limb surgeon; instigating, planning and overseeing the treatment of all patients having treatment with the team.

Nicola graduated in 1999 from Huddersfield University, with a 1st class BSc(Hons) Degree in Podiatry. She has since worked across a number of specialisms in the NHS and private practice, including Podiatric (foot) Surgery, Musculoskeletal Podiatry, Diabetes, Vascular, Tissue Viability and Occupational Health.
Her last position in the NHS was as Co-Head of Hospital Podiatry at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, in King’s Lynn, which she left in 2006 to work privately, full time, as a Musculoskeletal Specialist Podiatrist.
Nicola’s role in the team is as a specialist in the foot and ankle and gait analysis, providing foot orthoses, ankle foot orthoses, splints and exercises to patients before, after or instead of surgery.

John also graduated from Huddersfield University, in 1999, with a BSc(Hons) Degree in Podiatry and specialised in Musculoskeletal Podiatry within the NHS from 2002. In 2003, John joined Mr. Kumar as his 1st assistant, in his role as Specialist Orthopaedic Practitioner, for Peterborough & Stamford Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, where he worked exclusively within Orthopaedics, specialising in the foot and ankle. He assists in all Mr. Kumar’s procedures, and also follows-up complex foot operations with mobilisation and gait retraining in outpatients clinics and is actively involved in all research undertaken by the team.
John’s role in the team is as a specialist in the foot and ankle and gait, specifically with respect to gait re-training and foot and ankle mobilisation before, after, or instead of surgery, as well as surgical 1st assistant to Mr. Kumar.
