Welcome to Orthopaedic Surgeries

Painful joints from the lower spine to the toes are a major cause of restriction when walking/moving or playing sport. This pain can then cause a change in the way a person walks or moves, leading to a change in their gait cycle (the normal pattern of walking). A painful joint does not work properly, resulting in compensation either on the same side as the painful joint, or on the opposite limb or in the spine. We provide various specialist orthopaedic treatments to prevent this pain and bring about a return to a painless, stable and near normal gait cycle.

There are 4 joints in the lower limb which have maximal movement and are the most significant joints involved in normal gait. These are the hip, the knee , the ankle and the big toe joint. Because they are so important, treatments for these joints are aimed at restoring full function and movement (by joint replacement), rather than restricting it (fusion of the joint), allowing a return to normal gait cycle.
